Fiona Pennie was always destined to be at home on the water, as her mother was an international canoe sprint paddler. She first started playing about on boats when she was just a few months old.
Having missed out on a place in the Great Britain team in 2009, Beijing Olympian Fiona returned to the squad the following year determined to prove she deserved her place on the water, and she hasn’t disappointed.
In 2010, the Scot won two World Cup medals and finished eighth at the World Championships in Tacen. And she’s enjoyed another successful season in 2011, topped off with fifth place at the World Championships in Bratislava.
Fiona, who can also paddle women’s C1, will no doubt show that same grit and determination next year when she battles it out for that elusive Olympic medal.
