profile

For David Florence, canoeing was in the blood: his father used to race in the K1 class.

David entered his first ever slalom race in 1997; just 11 years later, he paddled his way to an Olympic silver medal in the men’s C1 at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He’s since been a constant figure in the top ten rankings and finished this season by adding World Cup gold and bronze medals to his ever-expanding collection.

Since his Olympic success in 2008, David has also taken up men’s C2 racing with teammate Richard Hounslow.
