Jamie took up fencing whilst he was at school and continued to pursue the sport when he was at Oxford University studying Mathematics. He captained the University's fencing squad during the 2006/07 season, a team which included eight international fencers. Under Jamie's captaincy Oxford defeated Cambridge in the 2007 Varsity Match, a great result as it ended an unprecedented eight year losing streak - the worst in recorded match history.

In 2005 Jamie beat Richard Kruse in a close fight 15-14 to take the National title; he cites this as the best fight he's ever won.

Ed was part of the the British squad that won gold in the team competition at the London Prepares fencing test event.
