Edward Jefferies first started fencing at the age of 11 after receiving a pamphlet for the sport at his school. He had always been keen to take up fencing so he decided to have a go.

He said: ‘I don’t know whether I was attracted by the elegance of the sport but I enjoyed it immediately and it was the one sport I found I could excel at.’

Before Edward became a keen fencer, he enjoyed playing football, athletics and basketball.

Ed was part of the the British squad that won gold in the team competition at the London Prepares fencing test event.
